Today has been relaxing although we are anxious for the next steps to go smoothly and quickly.
We spent the mid-day at the pool. There were several other children there from families that are adopting. These families are from Australia, Denmark, Sweden.
It is neat to see these families that have adopted other children and have returned for more and to see the older children that have integrated into the family doing so well. Mike played the Sleeping Bull game again, but this time, Yerly wanted to be a sleeping bull also. They had a lot of fun pretend sleeping and then chasing Diego.
Tristin returned to the same market this afternoon and Mike and kids relaxed in the hotel. On our way back to the room, we explained to the kids that we were going to take showers and wash their hair. Yerly said.."'yes because I want to be ‘bien limpicita’”( good and little clean one)
The centro was packed with people again. Tristin found a beautiful dress for Yerly and Colombian soccer jerseys for Diego. She also found some earrings for Yerly, since she does have her ears pierced, but did not have earrings.
While they were shopping they heard a lot of commotion in the little walking mall area….people were whistling and hollering. Tristin thought it was a famous Colombian. It was a homosexual Colombian man, strutting down the street and all of the people were harassing him. Cultural Differences!!! Mike got the kids ready – Yerly wanted a half-pony with one braid to pull her bangs to one side. Not too bad of a job for a guy who is a little out of practice…
Tonight we went back to the Italian restaurant. Spaghetti and Penne Pasta. They serve the best little pancitos…little breads with basil/ garlic butter. The kids got some juice boxes and chocolate cake for their final vaccination tomorrow….and they sang….""after the vaccination” dancing in the aisles!
It looks like tomorrow is going to be our last day in Medellin. Friday morning we are going to try to get tickets to fly to Bogota. We will visit the US Embassy Dr. and ICBF administration in the afternoon and apply for their visas on Monday. Hopefully, Tuesday afternoon, they will have Visas and we can fly home Wed!!!
God is good!!!
